Grandma’s Herbals

Jan’s experience and training have brought together unique skills and knowledge.  She spent over twenty years as a corporate instructor and consultant where her teaching skills were honed.  Her interest in a gentle, natural approach to health began as entrepreneur at Crossroads, a Native American Arts and Crafts gallery, where she learned the importance of being in balance with the natural world.  Living simply and in harmony with the earth is the foundation to being a complete human, according to Indigenous cultures the world over.  Spiritual, emotional and physical health stems from maintaining this balance.

Jan completed a two-year medical herbal studies course and an advanced post-graduate program at the David Winston’s Center for Herbal Studies.  She completed the Foundations in Herbal Medicine program, created by founder Dr. Tierona Lowdog, M.D. Throughout the years she studied with several other noted herbalists, including Rosemary Gladstar and Betzy Bancroft.

Jan received certification in Clinical Nutrition from the Natural Healing Institute of Naturopathy. She attended AnneMarie Colbin’s Natural Gourmet Cookery School in New York, as well as numerous nutritional symposiums and courses.

Her clinical experience as herbalist and nutritional consultant comes from her years at the office of her mentor and teacher, Dr. Nikki Conte, N.D.

She teaches workshops in herbal medicine, cooking for health, environmental topics and nutrition.  Her on-site consultations are as coach and educator, with emphasis on supporting the unique challenges and goals of the individual.
